Twenty three years a cop. Twenty five years an entrepreneur. Most of it at the same time.

In 2003 I founded Signal 88 Security in Omaha while I was still a K9 handler for a sheriff's office. In 2005 I co founded Lyconic, a software company that built bleeding edge security management software: scheduling, patrol tracking and field reporting, in front of every security officer. There were no smartphones yet, so we did what law enforcement did: military grade Toughbooks mounted in every patrol vehicle, connected over cellular. In 2008 I started Signal 88 Franchise Group and took the model national, then international: more than 370 franchises in four countries, every one of them running on Lyconic. The secret was never the marketing. It was the software.

I founded 88 Tactical next, and in 2013 I was bought out of Signal 88. Lyconic kept running for 19 years, until 2024, when we retired it on our own terms. Then 88 Tactical grew into a 40 lane range, a 300 seat restaurant and bar, a speakeasy, a training academy, an events business and a gym, under one roof. Nine departments. One team. And the same problem, bigger: nine apps, a binder, a group text and a lot of memory.

So I built the software again. That is Drakius. Every screen was shaped on our floor by the people who run it. I did not build it to sell. I built it because we needed it, and then other owners started asking.

I have never run a company without building the technology to run it better. Drakius is the third time, with everything Lyconic taught me over 19 years built in. It is the best one.
